Cardenas House.

Your recovery starts here.

Welcome to Cardenas.

Our House Rules

  • Weekly community meetings are mandatory for all members. These gatherings include house updates, announcements, and open discussion to strengthen accountability and connection. Members are also encouraged to regularly attend outside recovery meetings such as N.A., A.A., or Al-Anon as part of their continued growth and support network. If a member cannot attend a house meeting, prior approval from leadership is required.

  • Testing may be requested at any time to ensure a safe and sober environment. Members have 30 minutes to provide a sample and must remain seated at the dining table until complete. Leaving the area, using phones, or excessive water intake results in an automatic failure. If water is requested, another member will provide it in limited amounts.

  • All medications, including prescriptions and over-the-counter items, must be reported to leadership upon move-in and updated with any changes. Medications must be taken only as prescribed and stored safely. Horizon Living does notdispense or hold medications on behalf of members

  • Members are required to maintain full-time employment, education, or volunteer work to remain active in the community. Proof of participation is submitted weekly. This requirement encourages purpose, structure, and self-sufficiency.

  • Maintaining a clean, welcoming home is a shared responsibility. Weekly chores must be completed by Friday at 10 PMand documented with photos sent to leadership. Common areas should always remain tidy. Neglecting chores may lead to written notice or additional responsibilities.

  • Curfew is enforced nightly for the safety and consistency of the community. Visitors must be pre-approved by leadership and are limited to designated areas. Overnight guests are not permitted. Members are responsible for ensuring all visitors respect the property and house rules.

  • Respect for one another and the home is a core expectation. Disruptive behavior, verbal or physical aggression, theft, or harassment will not be tolerated. Every member contributes to maintaining a positive, supportive atmosphere where everyone feels safe and valued.

  • Weekly program fees are due on the assigned day. Members are expected to communicate any financial hardships before payments are missed. All personal, transportation, and medical expenses remain the member’s responsibility. Financial accountability supports long-term independence.

  • Active involvement in a recovery community—such as N.A. or other peer-based groups—is strongly encouraged. Regular attendance builds accountability, connection, and confidence in each member’s ongoing recovery journey.

  • Horizon Living enforces a zero-tolerance policy for drug or alcohol use, possession, or distribution. Violations may result in immediate removal from the program to protect the safety and sobriety of all members.

  • Each member is encouraged to take ownership of their recovery and personal goals. Horizon Living provides structure, guidance, and community—empowering members to build stability, confidence, and independence while supporting one another along the way.
